Gerald Ross, Ph.D. - Board Member (Retired)

Dr. Ross is one of the pioneers in the field of impulse radar and communications technology (UWB). He is the author or co-author of 70 papers and 60 patents in UWB and related fields. Dr. Ross spent 23 years with the Sperry Corporation where he managed applied research in sensor system development. He is the founder and CEO of ANRO Engineering; a company incorporated in 1980, working in the fields of applied research and advanced development in UWB radar and communication systems. Dr. Ross received his Ph.D. from Polytechnic University in New York; he has also completed the accelerated MBA program at Harvard University. He became a Fellow of the IEEE in 1970 and a Member of the National Academy of Engineering in 1995. In June 2004 he received the IEEE Pioneer Award for his work in UWB technology.

Mark DeSantis, Ph.D. - Board Member

Mark DeSantis is CEO and President of Formation3, LLC, a consulting firm that specializes in providing management, strategic planning and business development assistance to technology-based companies. He has founded or co-founded several companies and currently serves as a Director or Advisor to a number of tech-based start-ups in the US. Prior to forming Formation3, LLC, he served in a variety of policy positions in the Federal government, including serving as a Senior Policy Analyst in both The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy and the U.S. Department of Commerce in the first Bush Administration. Mark holds a BA in American Studies, a MBA in Finance from the University of Dayton, a MS in Technology Management from The American University; and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Economics from George Mason University.

Michael Richardson - Board Member

Mr. Richardson is currently works Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Imaging Science as a Research Scientist for remote sensing applications and business development. He joined the Eastman Kodak Company in 1981 and for ten years was heavily involved in a wide variety of hardware development projects related to remote sensing & space imaging. During his tenure at Kodak, Mr. Richardson led the multi-functional team that won a critical payload contract for Space Imaging’s IKONOS commercial remote sensing system, the first high resolution imaging system designed for commercial and multi-national applications around the globe. After successfully leading the Kodak team that won a contract for supplying space remote sensing focal plane and electronics for the EarthWatch/QuickBird commercial remote sensing & imaging system, Mr. Richardson was appointed as Program Manager for this activity. Mike Richardson received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University, Pottsdam, N.Y .

Gary H. Conners - Board Member

Mr Conners was Vice-President of Eastman Kodak Company and General Manager, Federal Systems Division. Responsible for management of the company’s contract business with the federal government, including high performance electro-optical systems, image information systems, and advanced equipment for high data rate magnetic recording [1984-1992]. He is also the Founder and Director, Federal Government Markets, GGC Imaging Inc. and serves as consultant or Board member for several companies in optics/aerospace business including: Boeing Corp.; Recon/Optical, Inc.; Eagle Talon Systems, Inc.; Geospatial Systems Inc. and other small imaging companies. Consulting activities generally relate to technology strategy and design of complex systems. Mr. Conners received a BS in Physics from St. Lawrence University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University he has also completed the accelerated MBA program at Harvard University

Ralph Pasini, a former United States Air Force Brigadier General, is a Master Parachutist and Command Pilot with more than 10,000 flying hours in more than fifteen separate aircraft. Ralph received his master’s degree from Southern Illinois University and is a graduate of the Air Force’s Air War College. During his career, Ralph was selected by the senior leadership of the United States military to attend Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government and Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies. Ralph commanded at the Squadron, Group, and Wing levels in the Strategic Air Command and it’s successor Air Combat Command. He was also the Deputy Commander of the Rapid Reaction Force Air Staff in NATO, where he had officers from 16 nations under his command. At the peak of the Cold War, Ralph was a Strategic Air Command Senior Controller, and was responsible to the President and Secretary of Defense for the launch and survival of US nuclear forces under crisis conditions. Ralph was the senior controller during Operation Just Cause, the liberation of Panama. Ralph hosted the “first ever” Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START) inspection by General officers from Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan at his post at Minot AFB, North Dakota. He also served as the Chief of Research and Analysis for the United States Pacific Command at Camp Smith, HI. Ralph was very heavily involved in acquisition of new simulation systems for the Armed Forces, and chaired the overall committee including reps from all services, as well as the CIA, DIA, NRO, NSA. In his last assignment, Ralph was heavily involved in Joint Vision 2020, the planning tool for how US armed forces would fight in the future, and the new weapons systems they would need to acquire to win at all levels of combat. He was also the custodian for all war plans maintained by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Since his retirement from the military, Ralph has worked at the Software Engineering Institute and the Carnegie Mellon University Research Institute. Ralph is on the Board of Advisors of Congruity Technologies, the Robert Morris University Veterans Leadership Program and also the John P. Murtha Center for Homeland Security, to name a few. Ralph also manages his own consulting firm.
